PPE Employer's Duty to Provide
Safety Vest Regulation --
On November 24th there was a Federal
regulation that went into place requiring workers along Federally
funded roadways to have safety vests that meet ANSI/ISEA 107-2004
Class 2 garment standards. The FHWA is applying this rule to all
workers whether they are paid or volunteer. This standard requires:
Fluorescent fabric, 201 in.2 of retro-reflective trim, 775 in.2 of
fluorescent background material, 360 degree visibility, and some
form of closure clasp in the front.

Although
OSHA does not require employers to provide employers to provide the OSHA
10-hour training program for all foreman, supervisors, superintendents,
and project managers,
